As you’ve probably come to expect from us… we were off again!

Our season as campsite hosts is almost coming to an end. We kicked off in beautiful Luxembourg – honestly, it’s like a tiny Switzerland! Now we’ve landed in northern France for the last few weeks until the autumn holidays.

Between the busy hours at the campsite, we soaked up the stunning nature (Luxembourg, you’re a stunner).
We also made a few quick trips back to the Netherlands to visit Den’s mom – she’s doing so much better, we’re so proud of her progress! 💪

And yep… the next trip is already brewing in our heads. Not to Australia this time, but off to Croatia this winter in our trusty yellow camper. To be continued! 🇭🇷🌞

Did you know dogs can fall in love with golf carts? 🐶⛳️ 
Since mid-March, we’ve been in Luxembourg for our job as campsite hosts — and wow, the area is stunning! We’ve had amazing spring weather, and we’ve already prepped 38 chalets, waking them up from their winter slumber. Let the camping season begin! 💪🌿

Den’s dad came by for a visit, and brought Quick (his dog) along… and guess what? Quick is obsessed with the golf cart. We practically had to drag him off of it. 😅
And some more good news: Den’s mom is doing much better and is currently in rehab. ❤️

Life threw some unexpected curveballs our way recently, and now we’re embracing a new chapter. Here’s what’s been going on and what’s next. Den’s mother has been very ill, and a cyclone passed over the east coast of Australia, near Bai’s father. It really makes you stop and reflect on life and how quickly things can change. 💫

Next week we’re heading to Luxembourg for a new season as hosts at the campsite, a bit of distraction and a new chapter. 🌿 We’re leaving the camper here and staying in a tiny house for the next 6 months. 🏡

For now, we’re still enjoying living in our little house on wheels while preparing for our seasonal work 💚

Our days on Gili Air were a rollercoaster of emotions—from pure joy to unexpected tension. We’d love to share our adventure with you! ✨🚤

We took a ferry from Gili T to Gili Air, a short 10-minute trip. Gili Air is smaller and quieter, filled with snorkelers and cyclists. 🚴‍♀️🐠 We rented bikes again and stayed in a charming homestay just minutes from the harbor. Our days were spent snorkeling, discovering cozy warungs, and taking part in a special silver workshop—where we made rings for each other! 💍

The main drone photo captured a perfect moment: bright blue skies and crystal-clear water. 📸🌞 But then, the weather suddenly changed. Strong winds, nonstop rain, and even fallen trees completely shifted the atmosphere. 🌧️🌬️ The last few days, we were left without electricity, without water (since the pump was electric), and without phone service. Quite the challenge, especially since we had to leave the island to catch our flight. ✈️

With no fast boats running, our only option was a long journey: Gili Air – Lombok – Padang Bai, Bali. What should have taken 2 hours ended up being a 12-hour trip. ⏳ But hey, what’s an adventure without unexpected twists? Along the way, we met incredible fellow travelers, making the experience even more special. 🌍🤝

Our time on Gili Air reminded us of that more than ever. Despite everything, we’ll never forget this adventure. We’re safe, we’re together—and in the end, that’s all that really matters. ❤️

✨ From Newcastle to Bali… and a nightmare ferry to Gili T! ✨
Our journey started with flights from Newcastle → Melbourne → Denpasar, and from Bali, we took the ferry to Gili Trawangan. Sounds dreamy, right? Well, that boat ride was anything but! 🌊😵‍💫 Huge waves, seasick passengers, and pure panic on board. But hey, once we arrived, we forgot all about it!

🌴 The vibe here? Absolutely amazing. The locals are super friendly and always up for a chat. Even though Gili T is small, there’s plenty to do – from snorkeling to beach bars and sunset yoga sessions.

🚴‍♂️ No cars or scooters! On Gili T, you get around by bicycle or horse-drawn carts. But honestly? We were shocked to see how hard the horses have to work. 🐎💔 So, we visited the rescue center, where sick horses are cared for, and locals can get medicine and education on animal welfare. They claim the horses work a maximum of 4-5 hours daily. Whether that’s true, we’re not sure. But we’re sticking to bikes!

💡 Facts about Gili T: 📢 The call to prayer (Adhan) is heard five times a day – most locals are Muslim. 🐱 No dogs on the island, only cats! They’re considered pure and can chill anywhere they like. ⛴️ Most workers come from Lombok and commute daily or return home a few times a month. 🚲 The island is so small you can cycle around it in just an hour!

Hey everyone! As always, we’re a bit late with a new update, but better late than never, right? 😉 We’re currently on Gili T, but before we dive into that, we’d love to take you back to our Australian adventure!
Our weeks in Australia were – as always – amazing. We enjoyed caravan life at Bai’s dad’s place in Byron Bay, visited Bai’s grandma in Nambucca, and took a trip to Sydney.

As some of you may know, Bai has his Dutch citizenship, and now we’re hoping to arrange the same for me in Australia. The plan is to apply for it from the Netherlands, and then stay in Australia for a longer period. Exciting times ahead! But for now, we’re fully enjoying Indonesia – more on that soon! 🌴✨
